Reading List

This is where I’ll be posting the books I’m reading, want to read, or have read on my trip.  I would love suggestions!

Currently Reading:

“Walking” – a personal essay by Thoreau…actually, just make that all Thoreau.  Emerson too.

“Stoking the Creative Fires” – Phil Cousineau

“Picnic, Lightning” and “Sailing Alone Around the Room” – both are poetry collections by Billy Collins

“The Hobbit” – Tolkien (I felt the urge to reread this one; it seemed fitting)

“Slaughterhouse Five” – Vonnegut

“The Lord of the Rings” – Tolkien (like “The Hobbit”, I felt the urge to reread this one)

“On the Road” – Kerouac

“The Omnivore’s Dilemma” – Michael Pollan

“Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” – Barbara Kingsolver

“The Prophet” – Kahil Gebran

“The Open Road” – Pico Ayer

  1. Drinking the Rain– I am forgetting the author’s name, but it’s great.

    Poetry by June Jordan

The Innocents Abroad by Twain (funny)

Any and all Vonnegut. But you expected that from me, right?

Any Thoreau. You’re basically Thoreau without the beard.

  2. My dad would suggest getting the Amazon Kindle for traveling. I’ve played with his and it’s really cool. He’s read a ton of books on it (when my mom hasn’t stolen it) and I’m pretty sure he still hasn’t changed the batteries.

  3. tolstoy. doesnt matter what, just something.
